omperaug District Department of Health (PDDH) invites all area residents to a free symposium on June 8 at Pomperaug Woods in Southbury, the latest effort in the Health District’s ongoing campaign to raise awareness of the nationwide opioid crisis and connect people in need to resources and treatment options. Residents of all ages are welcome to attend the ROAR event. Registration is not required, and breakfast will be provided to all attendees.

The Pomperaug District Department of Health, Southbury Animal Control and Southbury Veterinary Hospital are working together to provide a low-cost rabies clinic for dogs and cats. The clinic will be held on Sunday, June 2 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Southbury Town Garage on Peter Road.

The Pomperaug District Department of Health will sponsor a Skin Cancer Screening on Wednesday, May 8th, from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Health District office. Appointments are necessary and can be made by calling the Pomperaug Health District at 264-9616, ext. 0.

Based on new information, CDC has revised its warning to consumers based on the origin of the romaine lettuce.
CDC is advising that U.S. consumers not eat and retailers and restaurants not serve or sell any romaine lettuce
harvested from the Central Coastal growing regions of northern and central California.
