Free Uranium Well Water Testing in Woodbury Area

Pomperaug District Department of Health has received confirmation of elevated levels of uranium in a private well in the Good Hill Road area of Woodbury. These levels have exceeded the EPA maximum contaminant level of 30 micrograms per liter (ug/L). Uranium is naturally occurring and may seep into wells from the bedrock. Exposure to uranium at high levels for extended periods of time is linked to certain health problems.

Letters have been sent to homeowners in the affected area regarding scheduling well water sampling.
