Additional Vaccine Information
The Pomperaug District Department of Health Travel Vaccination Services Clinic specializes in providing services to help you travel safely and be medically protected. We offer services ranging from medical related travel advice and travel consultation, to providing trained medical staff to immunize you, fellow family members including children, through the process of vaccination. We pride ourselves in providing our customers with the most affordable prices in the area. Currently we offer most CDC recommended vaccinations. These are yellow fever, typhoid fever, Japanese Encephalitis, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, tetanus, meningitis and rabies. In addition, through the travel clinic we can provide prescriptions for medications to treat common travel related diseases such as malaria, traveler’s diarrhea, and altitude sickness. These include common antibiotics and malarone (malaria).
When traveling to a foreign location such as those in Africa, Asia, and South America it is important to protect yourself from different diseases and illnesses. This includes travel to Peru, Mexico, Panama, Central America, Brazil, China, India, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Vietnam, Cambodia, Philippines, South Africa, Kenya, Zambia, Pakistan, and similar destinations. Our travel clinic can help to protect you by not only immunizing you but also providing consultation on current safety and cultural information about your destination, food and water safety tips, insect-borne disease prevention, jet lag and high altitude information, and advice on medical needs and travel evacuation.
The PDDH travel vaccination clinic serves the members of the Southbury, Woodbury and Oxford communities. In addition, we also serve much of Western Connecticut and many of the following areas Danbury, Cheshire, Redding, Middlebury, Waterbury, Roxbury, Watertown, New Milford, Seymour, Ansonia, Shelton, Naugatuck, Monroe, Milford, Derby, Brewster, Sherman, Naugatuck, Litchfield, Torrington, Roxbury, Watertown, Bethlehem, Thomaston, Bridgewater, Washington, Carmel, Winsted, Bethel, Brookfield, Plymouth, Prospect, Wolcott, Hamden, New Haven, and Woodbridge.
We cannot bill insurance directly but will provide you with a complete receipt showing all charges and diagnosis codes. Many times insurance will reimburse for these vaccines and you should contact your insurance company for further information.
